PP1: Personal Media Usage
Personal use of media is the way individuals engage with various digital platforms, such as social media, news websites, streaming, and entertainment apps, in their everyday lives. Personal use of media is vital to remain connected with other people, have access to information, and receive entertainment. However, how we use personal media is crucial to maintain a healthy balance. While it is an effective tool of communication and education, mindless or over-scrolling can lead to distractions, reduced productivity, and even compromised mental health. To make the use of media more productive, one must put boundaries in place—limited time on social media, real-life connections first, and mindful consumption of content. By integrating intentional use of media into daily habits, individuals can remain informed and connected without sacrificing well-being or attention.
Typically, in the mornings I will wake up and check all my notifications from my social media or text messages. These apps include iMessage, Snapchat, Instagram, and X. I will usually scroll through TikTok while I wait to go to class. In recent times my social media usage has gone down.
Netflix:
I have been recently watching a thriller movie on Netflix called Your Lucky Day. Your Lucky Day is a suspenseful thriller centered around a man named Jack, who stumbles upon a briefcase filled with money during a routine stop at a gas station. What seems like a lucky break quickly turns into a tense and dangerous situation as he becomes entangled in a moral dilemma. Soon, various people with their own motivations and desires converge, leading to escalating conflict and unpredictable twists. The film explores themes of greed, desperation, and the consequences of choices, as characters confront their own morals in the face of temptation. It's a gripping, character-driven narrative that keeps viewers on edge, questioning what they would do if they found themselves in a similar situation.
